What is Shared Branch?
Shared Branch services is a national network of credit unions from all over the country that share facilities to give members thousands of convenient locations to perform financial transactions.
At any Shared Branching Location, you can:
- Get a copy of your account history
- Make loan payments
- Withdraw money
- Transfer Funds
- Make deposits
- Cash checks
- and much more!
Shared Branch IDCheck Protects Against Fraud
To help protect members from account takeover fraud, the Shared Branch Network is introducing a new ID proofing measure for in-person visits. This added step ensures it’s really you trying to access your account — not an imposter.
Who this Affects:
- TAPCO Members who use a Shared Branch services in a state other than where their ID is issued.
- Non-TAPCO Members visiting a TAPCO Branch to access Shared Branch services with an out-of-state (non-Washington) ID.
If you bank at a Shared Branch location throughout the United States, a teller can now identify and authenticate members with out-of-state IDs in the branch through a QR code and one-time passcode multi-factor authentication verification. This additional layer of authentication - called IDCheck - will be used for Shared Branch withdrawal transactions.
How it Works:
- Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
- Select your credit union’s name from a drop-down list.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
- Upload a photo of your ID.
- Take a selfie.
- Show your one-time passcode to the teller (passcode is valid for 20 minutes).
Tip: Save your validation for an even quicker experience next time!
