What happens when an opportunity to protect your personal information also becomes a chance to support your neighbors? During our semi-annual TAPCO Shred Day, members and non-members came together to do both, safely disposing of sensitive documents while contributing to local organizations helping families and individuals experiencing food insecurity.
The event reflected our belief that creating pathways to financial freedom also means creating opportunities for people to connect, give back, and strengthen the communities they call home.
Financial Protection Starts with Awareness
Knowing how to properly dispose of sensitive documents is an important part of protecting yourself from identity theft. From outdated financial statements to personal records, everyday paperwork can contain information that should be handled securely.
To help make this process accessible, TAPCO hosted a free Shred Day event on October 17, 2026, welcoming members and the community to securely dispose of 2.86 tons of sensitive documents while taking a proactive step toward protecting their financial well-being.
Small Contributions, Meaningful Community Impact
Shred Day also created an opportunity to give back. Attendees were encouraged to bring food donations for TCC Food Pantry and Eloise's Cooking Pot Food Bank, connecting financial security with a shared effort to support neighbors facing food insecurity.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, over 150 items were donated to support the food bank's ongoing work. Each contribution helped turn a practical service into an opportunity for collective impact, showing how small acts of generosity can make a difference when people come together.
Creating Pathways Beyond Financial Wellness
At TAPCO, our commitment to financial well-being is rooted in the understanding that people and communities thrive when they have access to resources, education, and meaningful support. Shred Day brought that commitment to life by making financial protection accessible while encouraging community involvement.
We're grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to this year's event, as well as TCC Food Pantry and Eloise's Cooking Pot Food Bank for its continued dedication to serving our neighbors.
