Frequently Asked Questions

Why is TAPCO Credit Union upgrading their debit cards?  TAPCO is committed to continuously improving the benefits and services we deliver to our members. Your new debit card will offer more security, and several exciting new features such as tap-to-pay, digital issuance, and a new mobile app to manage your TAPCO accounts and cards all in one place.

Will I still have the same card number? No. All cardholders will have new card numbers. Visa Debit Card numbers were required to change as the industry is moving to a more secure 8-digit BIN (the leading numbers on your card). Any recurring or preauthorized charges you have on your current debit card will need to be updated to the new debit card number. This includes payments for utilities, gyms, and online merchants such as Netflix and Amazon. Payments that use ACH (account and routing number) will not be affected.

What information do I need to activate my debit card? Primary Members and Joint Members will need to use the Primary Member's details to activate the new debit card.

Will my PIN stay the same? You will be required to set your PIN for your new Visa Debit Card. There will be a phone number on your letter and a sticker on the card for you to call to activate your card and set your PIN. You can set your PIN to the same number as your old card or update it to a new number. If you  activated your new debit card but didn’t set your PIN during the activation process, please call 888-886-0083 to set your PIN on or after November 6.

I have multiple accounts with multiple debit cards, how do I tell which new debit card is for each account? In Online or Mobile Banking click on your account (usually checking) that has a debit card. Then click Card Services. You will see a drop down of the cards connected to that account. The last four digits will show for each corresponding card.

Will my new card be compatible with a mobile wallet (Google Pay, Apple Pay)*? Yes. For Apple, Samsung, and Google Pay, members will need to add their new TAPCO Debit Card to their digital wallets and remove their old TAPCO Debit Cards. Visa Debit Card images are also changing. *This feature will be active at a future date.
